Nathaniel Popkin

Nathaniel Popkin is an essayist, novelist, and historian. In addition to the novel Lion and Leopard and three books of non-fiction, Popkin’s essays and literary criticism have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Public Books, Tablet, The Rumpus, and the Kenyon Review, among many other publications. A keen observer of cities and lived places, and an editor at Hidden City Daily, Popkin has focused much of his work on the social and physical dynamics of Philadelphia. He is writer-in-residence at the Athenaeum of Philadelphia, and a former fellow of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He’s the co-editor of a forthcoming literary anthology, WHO WILL SPEAK FOR AMERICA?
