Lisa Couturier

Lisa Couturier, author The Hopes of Snakes & Other Tales from the Urban Landscape (Beacon Press), is a 2012 Pushcart Prize winner for her essay “Dark Horse,” a contributing editor for Pushcart, and was named a notable essayist in Best American Essays in 2004, 2006, and 2011. Her collection of poems, Animals / Bodies, won the 2015 New England Poetry Club Chapbook Award. Her work has appeared in Orion, Orion’s Animals & People, National Geographics Heart of a Nation, and the American Nature Writing series, among many other publications. She lives in Maryland’s Agricultural Reserve with her family and six horses.
